It's been a little over 4 years since MDT5 first published. I appreciate everyone who's read, even once, since June 2008. But, it's a wrap.
Peace and blessings.

Daily Top 5 >>> 6/11/12

The Chicago Teachers Union is moving closer to striking in the fall. Internal reports are claiming that they've easily surpassed the 75% member agreement threshold necessary for a strike. CPS is in bad, bad shape. Man. With the public school system leadership in such incapable hands - leaders with one foot in the privatized charter school movement at the same time - it seems inevitable that the CTU will end up striking come late-August. First time since 1987, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

This guy is out of his mind.

"Good Music"
Another summer means another Jazzy Jeff x Mick Boogie mixtape. Their annual collab is always a smart download, especially since it's free. You could have the BBQ crackin' with just this mix. Hit the pic for the free download. All you have to do is fill in an email address. Via TSS.

What's the first thing you think of when you hear "penguins"? Either March of the Penguins, or hockey. Not "sexual depravity". At least not until now. Peep the article, Sex Habits of the Adelie Penguin, over at HuffPost for a laugh. Apparently penguins are certified freaks, down for everything from "autoerotic behavior, sexual coercion, non-procreative sex, necrophilia" and more. My favorite line: "There seems to be no crime too low for these penguins." Classic material.

So the dystopian future really is here. The Pentagon is close to deploying new, miniature lethal drones across the Middle East. In addition to carrying democracy, civilization, and liberty, the 2-foot-long, 6-pound mini-aircraft also deliver tiny warheads with unprecedented accuracy. Hopefully the sarcasm tipped you off to my opinion of the drone warfare system. It's amazing what technology can come out of an economy that depends on wars of aggression just to function. Shouts to all the engineers out there, y'all are more patriotic than you think. Via ChiTrib.
