Daily Top 5 >>> 4/26/10

  • "Unplugged"

Probably the best thing MTV does. I caught some of the Trey Songz set online last night and, gotta admit, it was tight. I'm not a huge Songz fan because he whispers in normal conversation and because grown men shouldn't spell their names - even nicknames - with Zs. But, I can't say dude can't sing. Jay-Z Unplugged back in '01 still gets heavy rotation in my headphones too. Probably his 3rd or 4th-best album.
  • "The Cool Kids" Much love to Chuck and Mikey for putting on a dope show last night at Norris, even though only like 100 people showed up. There were more people in my Geography midterm on Friday. It was pretty sad, and I don't know whether to be disappointed in FMO (which I'm a part of) or the student body or both. But regardless, Chuck and Mikey killed it as usual. Props to Vickie on the photo.
  • "IHOP" It goes down at the house of pancakes. Gotta get down to DePaul sooner than later.
  • "Arizona Fuckery" It is 2010, right? If you have eyes and/or ears, you probably have heard about Arizona's new immigration law. If not, here are the sparknotes: Police can stop "anybody suspected of being an illegal immigrant" and demand that they show proof of citizenship, a green card, a Costco membership card, something. In other words, any brown person in the state of Arizona is, according to state law, allowed to be racially profiled. And it's racial profiling, don't gimme that "good police work" bullshit. Illegal immigrants in Arizona are brown, and the "legislators" there have allowed police to decide who looks like they belong and who doesn't. Fuck Arizona. When I first heard about this, I thought Hitler had come back and Arizona was now Nazi-occupied. Or that the Emancipation Proclamation had expired and brown people had to start carrying slave papers again. Illegal immigration is a problem, depending on who you ask, but there's gotta be a better way to address the issue. We can't be that retarded. Not in 2010.
  • "Good Music"

Distant Relatives drops May 18th ftw. Props 2DBz.

The Arizona law is unabashed racial profiling, not to mention people do not carry IDs with them wherever they go. Arizona sucks. These are the people who ruined the Grand Canyon. Whatevs. I'm glad I don't live there.
