Daily Top 5 >>> 12/9/10

  • "Justice" You may remember Derrion Albert. He was a student at Fenger High School whose murder was caught on tape last year. While locking up young Black men is never anything to smile about, my racial biases don't apply to murderers. The first of 5 teens charged with Albert's killing was convicted today. 4 more to go. They'll be out by the time they are 21, and I'll leave my thoughts on that to myself for a change. Via Trib.
  • "Fruit" If your kitchen game is where it should be, you know that fresh ingredients are a necessity. Cheaper than pre-prepared meals, better for you, you gotta have fruit and vegetables at the crib. Not V8 and Simply Orange either. The real deal. Winter months in Chicago - otherwise known as 'half the year' - can be a pretty depressing time for a master chef (#swag), but check this list of winter-hardy fruits. Your immune system will thank you later. Props HuffPost.
  • "Babe Ruth" Found an interesting article about what kind of salary Babe Ruth would command in today's absurd baseball market. Because Ruth was a beast, could pitch, and played for the Yankees, the writer puts Ruth's yearly worth at $40 million. I just wrote an article too, about how many viewers Raiden from Mortal Kombat would get on Pay-Per-View if he was in UFC. I say a bagazillion. Via TBL.
